The Timeline of Daresia:

The Dawn of Time (a long, long time ago)
Before time, There were a Race of Men, now known as the Ancients. They were great Warriors and soared over the lands on their great winged mounts, the Dragons. They had an enormous capacity for violence and warred with each other in the skies. Slowly but surely their bloodthirst got the better of them, as they caused their own genocide.

After the demise of the Ancients, the Dragons ruled. The Goblins lived in their hills and mountains, the Elves dwelled in their woods and Men lived on their islands. Everything was peaceful and balanced.

Then a new kind of Man came across the Sea of Storms to the South. These were large men, and fair, compared to the dark haired and suntanned Men of the Islands. They lived with the Men of the Islands and the Dragons, who they worshipped as gods, offering them gifts and sacrifices.

As time moved on the sons and daughters of both the Men of the Islands and the New Men shared beds and soon they spread and prospered and slowly the Elves and Goblins were forced to retreat further and further, as the humans encroached on their territories. They went south into the Great Plains to hunt for sacrifices for their Draconian Deities, and as time wore on, some settled there as well. And the Mightiest of the Men became priests of the Dragon Gods and the Dragons taught them secrets of magic and lore. And the mightiest among the mighty sat on the Dragon Throne, so that everyone knew exactly where his power came from. The Priests grew to be powerful, and in the end, the Dragons became frightened of their priests, but by then it was to late. The Priests had in secret forged an orb, known as the Dragon Orb, with the power to strike madness into the minds of the Dragons. And with it, they threw down their former deities and burned their minds, until they were nothing, but wild animals. Men slew them until only a few remained, on the furthest islands. Then Men reigned.

The Reign of the Dragon Priests (about 700 years before Kings Year)
The Priests of the Dragon Gods continued to rule, though they did so without they former Deities to unite them, to give them a common cause and most importantly, to keep them in line. They hired the largest and most capable of men and armed them with the best weapons available, and clad them in heavy armours, forged in the likeness of their former masters. These Warriors they called the Bragon-Brethren. The priests then began to squabble amongst themselves and plotted and their power became more and more strained and their ways more and more decadent. A rebellions arose and plunged the lands into chaos and war, and the Dragon Priests fled for their lives.

The Time of a Thousand Wars (about 500 years before Kings Year)
Warlords then arose and fought each other, carved out temporary Chiefdoms, made alliances and in the end forged the Kingdom. The pupils of the Priests of the Dragons resurfaced, but now they called themselves Sorcerers. They offered their skills to the men of power and swore fealty to their lords and partook in the warring. They all Warred with each other then, the descendent of the New Men, now known as the Longfolk to the South-west and the descendent of the Men of the Islands, known as the Peloi, to the North, The Men of the Mixed Blood, The Dareans and the Men of the Plains, the Algrothi. The Elves and Goblins were all but forgotten. Heroes and villains aplenty surfaced in this age and many a legend and song have their roots in events and battles from this era. All of the major cities grew into their status as cities during the thousand wars, though some of the other cities of the time were destroyed utterly.

Coming of the Prophet (about 10 years before Kings Year)
During the Time of a Thousand Wars, the people of Daresia sought solace from the warring lords, and salvation came in the form of Tron Kueber, who walked the lands proclaiming he had been visited by a Spirit, nay a God, who would end the suffering of the lands, if the people would swear fealthy to Him. It spoke to several men and soon he had gathered a vast horde of followers. Some of these were noble-sons who had foresworn their inheritance and now called them the Knight of the Argent Dawn. Then the God spoke to a Prince of men, Lord Yoran Asladon, and told him that he would secure dominion over all of Daresia, if he would seek out the Prophet Kueber and swear fealthy to him and his God there, in the presence of his followers. And it so happened, and Kueber was made Primarch of the Church and Lord Asladon became king.

The Age of Kings (0-349 Kings Year)
The Kingdom of Daresia, forged through an era of wars, suddenly made peace. King Asladon of Daresia sat on the Dragon Throne, and prosperity and order followed the chaotic times of the Thousand Wars. The Era of Peace lasted a long time, until the Primarch Obore rallied all of Daresia in a huge crusade against their neighbours.

The Age of Crusades (139-207 KY)
The First Crusade was against the Longfolk. The initial part was very successful, but soon the warrior Longfolk was all slain and the elusive hunters, aswell as the winter in the Highlands, proved to much for the Crusaders. The town of Arenhem, on the Daresian side of the Highlands, had grown tremendously during the Crusade and became the favoured trading-post, but the missionaries had little success, though the people living in Arenhem became faithful to some extend.

The second Crusade against the Algrothi Nomads, who worshipped the “Great Stallion” proved much more unsuccessful. The Crusade ended almost before it began, as the nomads simply went away from the advancing army. After they had retreated several hundred miles into the plains, they began to cut of the surply-lines of the Daresian Crusade. They were soon forced to return home.

The Third Crusade was much much more successful. It went into the southern regions of present Rathess, where clans of inferior savages lived. They fought bitterly and gave the Daresian a hard fight. The Crusade went as deep as the River Rathness, where a city was founded by the name of Kuebeon.

Then the Fourth Crusade began, against the Peloi, and to some extent the Argai. This proved as unsuccessful as the Second Crusade, as the Peloi went further and further into the mass of islands, and poisoned water-supplies as they went. The Crusaders then turned to the Argai, relatives to the Peloi, but these were already faithful, but became the subject of bigots none the less. They sought the protection of the church, and a time of turmoil began.

During the turmoil following the Fourth Crusade, after almost a century, the Duke of Kuebeon, vassal to the King of Daresia, was killed in a massive uprising by a unified southern Rathess, who reclaimed their ancestral lands. Their leader was crowned King of Rathess, a nation moulded on the Kingdom of Daresia.

The Time of Sundering (349-361 KY)
The end of the Kingdom came with the demise of the last King, Alderic, with his successors squabbled for his throne. The result was a bloody affair when the squabbled flared into full battle and the Succession Wars began. The lands were thrown into chaos once more. Many powers sought to gain dominion over Daresia, but the attempts were all foiled by different circumstances. The Sorcerers plots were stopped by the rising of the Pristine Knights, who sought to limit the influence of magic and Sorcery in the world of politics, the attempt of the Dragon-Brothers came to nothing at the hands of the Band of the Silver Harp and many other would be usurpers were stopped in far more bloody ways.

The Age of Princes (361-485*KY)
Having survived the Sundering, The remaining nobles, rallied under the banner of the Ducal families and forged a Treaty to enforce the peace between them. These Dukes now became Princes. Under the guidance of the Princes, the Nobles resumed their duties, the situation was uneasy at first, but slowly the peace and order takes hold of the land again, though not as firm and securely as it once had, as occasional border-skirmishes and wars still occur.
